Cecil Purnell, was a soldier enlisted during the First World War by Great Britain, during the war, he was wounded and cured in Besançon, the cradle of French watchmaking. During his stay in this wonderful city and trained by the best local watchmakers, Cecil Purnell was fascinated by the legendary works of Abraham-Louis Breguet, famous Swiss inventor and known for his work in watchmaking, he was also more specifically stunned by the wonder of the tourbillon; a passion passed down many decades after to his grandson Jonathan Purnell.

That’s why since 2006, the brand was born with Jonathan’s promise to produce only unique tourbillon watches from the development of his own calibers and in honor of his grandfather Cecil. In full respect for the know-how and the tradition of haute horlogerie, he combines a meticulous technique, creativity and service.

Years later and after developing 13 exclusively made tourbillon calibers since its founding in 2006, Purnell in began collaborating with Eric Coudray in 2016, one of the greatest watchmakers of our time and winner of the Gaia Award for his innovative mastery of the watchmaking. Coudray’s latest achievement is the fastest triple-axis tourbillon called the “Spherion”, a terminology that will be considered part of the vocabulary of watchmaking in the future.

In 2017 the first Spherion was presented within the Escape I collection; thereafter, it took two years to develop and manufacture the Escape II, with the first prototype watches ready in late 2019 for a global launch beginning in 2020.

At this year’s International Haute Horlogerie Salon (SIAR 2020) for the first time, Purnell launches its piece «Purnell Escape II forged Carbon», weighing 50 grams, this allows an even better fit on the wrist thanks to the lugs you cut down, while the forged carbon fiber material highlights the mesmerizing bright colors of this piece, the world’s fastest triple double-axis tourbillon. On the other hand, this creation features the specially shaped sapphire crystal that gives the Escape II great visibility, in addition to the six main springs assembled in 4 barrels, as well as the rare conical power reserve
indication system.

The Swiss brand Purnell is considered today as one of the most exclusive high-end watch brands and Mexico welcomes you with open arms and lot of emotion.
